What is Building 7?

Building 7 was a 47-story skyscraper that was part of the World Trade Center complex. It would have been the tallest high-rise in 33 states. It collapsed at 5:20 pm on September 11, 2001. It wasnot hit by an airplane and suffered minimal damage compared to other buildings much closer to the Twin Towers.

Seven Problems

2. NIST had recordings of explosions in the vicinity of Building 7, but withheld this evidence until well after issuing their final report. The final report did not account for even the possibility of these explosions. Recently, a legal suit forced NIST to release this critical evidence.
3. A free-fall drop of 2.25 sec. is finally officially acknowledged. National Institute of Standards and Technology lead investigator Shyam Sunder explained months earlier that, an object in free fall "would be an object that has no structural components below it."
4. Commercially controlled media quickly transitioned coverage of the building collapse to a "feel good" spin, focusing on the building being vacant when it came down. Dan Rather and Peter Jennings were more candid with their immediate comments, relating it to the familiar demolition of buildings we all well know.
5. No mention of the collapse of Building 7 in The 9/11 Commission Report.
6. The New York Times characterized as "perhaps the deepest mystery in the investigation," a FEMA-report appendix about a steel specimen recovered from Building 7, rather like Swiss cheese, a product of extraordinarily high temperatures.
7. No mention in the NIST Building 7 Final Report of this mysterious steel specimen.

No Plane Struck Building 7

The original WTC 7 was 47 stories tall, clad in red exterior masonry, and occupied a trapezoidal footprint. The building opened in 1987. In 1988, Salomon Brothers signed a long-term lease, and became the main tenants of the building.

Only after the building’s destruction on September 11 did the presence of secret C.I.A. offices in the building become known. In a NY Times article by James Risen published November 4, 2001, ^[3] it stated, "The agency's New York station was behind the false front of another federal organization, which intelligence officials requested that The Times not identify. The station was, among other things, a base of operations to spy on and recruit foreign diplomats stationed at the United Nations, while debriefing selected American business executives and others willing to talk to the C.I.A. after returning from overseas."

Other federal agencies with offices in Building 7 were the Department of Defense, Internal Revenue Service, Secret Service, and Security and Exchange Commission. New York City’s Mayor Giuliani had his Office of Emergency Management on the 23rd floor.

"No plane struck Building 7". This does not imply that, had a plane struck the building, it would have collapsed straight down as it did.

The fact that no plane struck Building 7 makes it a cleaner violation. With no plane there is no confusion. Defenders of the Official Story have more of an obligation to explain fully the anomalous destruction of this 47-story building.

The building is referred to in several ways: 7 World Trade Center, World Trade Center 7, WTC 7, and Building 7.

Sound of explosions

Newly obtained 9/11 eyewitness footage that NIST attempted to keep secret contains what appears to be the sound of explosions coming from the vicinity of WTC 7 after the collapse of the twin towers.

The clip was released by NIST as part of a 3-terabyte package of video and photo data in response to a lawsuit brought by the International Center for 9/11 Studies. ^[4]

The above video is from eyewitness Richard Peskin, who filmed ground zero from a high rise building that was in the vicinity of Building 7. The first portion of the footage is filmed immediately after the collapse of the closest tower to Building 7, WTC 1. At about 10 seconds into the clip, two clear explosions can be heard.

NIST did consider what they called a "blast scenario," but it assumed the planting of explosives about a single column shortly before the 5:20 PM collapse of Building 7. Their assumption was that whom ever would plant such explosives would have done it earlier in the day after the building was vacated. NIST rejected this scenario because they said no audio record of a blast with sufficient decibel level existed.

We now know NIST had records of several explosive blasts around 11:00 a.m. which they attempted to keep hidden from the public.

But - even if there were no explosions, there is a problem in that there was no evidence of fires during the first 100 minutes following the Collapse of the second (closest) tower which caused the debris damage alleged to have started them

However, according to the NIST Final Report:

1. Fires on floor 22 were not involved in the critical damage to the building. Also fires first observed 2 hours after debris strikes from WTC 1 on floors 29 & 30, also were not floors with critical damage.
2. No fires moved from floor to floor
3. The floors contributing to the critical fire damage were on 7-9 and 11-13. The earliest evidence of fires on any of these floors was 3 hrs, 40 minutes after the debris struck. ^[5]

Freefall - But Significance Understated

The NIST Final Report explained the 2.25-sec freefall resulted in a drop spanning eight stories. No explanation was given as to how the structural components below could have suddenly offered no resistance.

At the time NIST was maintining the building collapsed at 40% gravitational acceleration, high school physics teacher David Chandler submitted a graphical analysis of a video showing the collapse. This led to NIST acknowledgement of 100% gravitiational acceleration, which is free fall. An updated video analysis by Chandler with more recent information from NIST is available from Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth on YouTube. ^[6]

To gain an appreciation for eight stories of freefall, consider this figure showing two slices of time. The start of freefall is shown on the left, and the end of freefall on the right. The eight stories are shown as a block near the bottom left. This would be hidden from our view, and we don’t know if it was a block of eight floors as shown, or if the floors with structure removed were distributed in some manner. It’s probably more likely the columns on single floors were taken out every third floor, to leave column segments convenient in length for later removal.

After the period of freefall had ended, the remaining upper part of the building continued to accelerate downward, but because of resistance of the lower structure, descended at something less than gravitational acceleration.

Mainstream Coverage Transitions Quickly to Blackout

Mainstream media quickly transitioned coverage of the building collapse to a "feel good" spin, focusing on the building being vacant when it came down. Dan Rather and Peter Jennings were more candid with their immediate comments, relating it to the familiar demolition of buildings we all well know.

Transition to Building-7 Blackout in First Hours After Collapse

Mainstream media transitioned through three stages of information quality in record time:

1. More time taken, plus some reflection other than just saying no one was in the building.
2. Short, less than 20 seconds, or with no reflective comments.
3. No mention of collapse at all.

It’s just stunning to see these buildings come down...and now, number seven World Trade Center which is 47-stories tall."

AB2 & MM: Aaron Brown & Maureen Madden - "The whole south side of the building was engulfed in flames, at one time. They had been waiting for it to come down for the past half hour or so. At least they had some warning."

Stage 2

DS: Diane Sawyer – "As you know, within the hour, another building came down, a 47-story building."

AB1: Ashleigh Banfield – "Those people (Bldg 7) had all been cleared out of those buildings as soon as the first plane it the WTC this morning. They were just waiting for that building to go down."

PH: Philip Hayton - Shows collapse video. "Supposedly has been weakened because it was so close to the other buildings. Presumably, they were able to evacuate everyone."

ML & TN: Mike Landess & Tracey Neale – Shows Video of collapse. Landess says, "The information we have this building was probably incredibly structurally damaged by the goings on right next door." Neale follows, "It is another building at the World Trade Center itself, number seven, World Trade Center. It had been evacuated this morning. So, structural damage probably led to this building coming down."

SP: Scott Pelley – "Thru the day, an inferno raged in Building 7, another massive office tower. Fire fighters feared it would collapse. And, a little more than 8 hours after the attack, the abandoned building fell."

DS-Int.: Diane Sawyer interviewed a volunteer from California (J.D. Halperim) reporting from near the WTC 7 collapse. "Well, at Building Seven, there was no fire there, whatsoever. There was one truck putting water on the building. But then, it collapsed completely. (The context implied the observation of no fire was after the collapse.)

Third Beam at 9th Anniversary - A Reminder that Blackout Continues

9th anniversary - 2 official laser beams projected skywards - Plus an UNofficial one

As a surprise for the 9th anniversary, AE911Truth put up a third light beam at the World Trade Center representing the truth about the controlled demolition of Building 7.1 But Blackout quickly suppressed any Media coverage. The other two official beams represented a memorial to the lives lost in the Twin Towers.

The third beam was turned on at precisely 9:11 p.m. on September 11, 2010. At that same instant, a press release from AE911Truth through PRNewswire service was sent to the full list of media outlets in the NYC Metro area. Shortly thereafter, a number of people called stations asking them about the third beam. Generally, the explanation given was that it stood for Building 7. However, the next morning, the media made no mention of any third beam.

PRNewswire reported the third-beam press release received the second "most read" designation on their website for that day.2 Despite this, no mainstream media reported on a third beam.

No Mention of the Collapse of WTC 7 in The 9/11 Commission Report

Lee Hamilton - Joint Chair of the 9-11 Commission of Inquiry

Lee Hamilton, the former co-chair of the 9/11 Commission, gives a wide-ranging interview to the CBC about Without Precedent, a book he co-authored on the 9/11 Commission (see August 15, 2006). The interviewer, Evan Solomon, points out that the 9/11 Commission's final report does not actually mention the collapse of Building 7, and Hamilton says he does not recall whether the Commission made a specific decision to leave it out. ^[11]

FEMA-Report Appendix on Swiss-Cheese Looking Steel Sample

As commented by 9/11Research, FEMA's WTC Building Performance Study, Appendix C Limited Metallurgical Study, describes observations interesting from a forensic standpoint, that steel members were severely corroded by sulfidative attack. ^[12]

In an article by James Glanz and Eric Lipton, "A Search for Clues In Towers' Collapse; Engineers Volunteer to Examine Steel Debris Taken to Scrapyards," New York Times, February 2, 2002, the authors state, "Perhaps the deepest mystery uncovered in the investigation involves extremely thin bits of steel collected from the trade towers and from 7 World Trade Center, a 47-story high rise that also collapsed for unknown reasons. The steel apparently melted away, but no fire in any of the buildings was believed to be hot enough to melt steel outright." ^[13]

The characteristic of severe corroding by sulfidative attack produces "Eutectic Steel." A short YouTube video probing this aspect was produced by Jonathan Cole, P.E., titled "9/11 Experiments: The Mysterious Eutectic Steel." ^[14]

NIST Did Not Mention Swiss-Cheese Looking Steel Sample

Whereas, the authors of FEMA Appendix C took the approach of calling for further research, since, for example, the rate of corrosion was unknown, NIST took the approach of saying, since it is unknown, the relationship between when the corrosion occurred, and the collapse can’t be determined. Furthermore, NIST noted the Appendix C authors stated they believed one of the steel samples came from WTC 7. NIST treated this as equivalent to the location being unknown, and it was not possible to link the first sample conclusively to WTC 7. Because of this, it wasn’t studied further.

This explanation was provided in a letter dated June 24, 2010, from NIST Senior Communications Officer, Michael E. Newman, to Ronald H. Brookman. Mr. Brookman had written to NIST Director Patrick Gallagher inquiring on this and other matters, May 31, 2010.

CNN, BBC 24 Reports Conclusively Prove Media Prior Knowledge and False-Start Scripting of Building 7 Controlled Demolition

It has now been discovered that BBC 24 also reported the Building 7 collapse before it fell. Furthermore, CNN’s Aaron Brown reported that Building 7 "has collapsed or is collapsing" over an hour before it fell.

These clips both reinforce the shocking, newly discovered BBC coverage wherein Jane Standley reports the collapse early-- with the building still standing behind her.

The early timing of these reports is now verified twiceover-- the BBC 24report is time stamped at 21.54-- or 4:54 P.M. Eastern Standard Time [See World Time Zones] Secondly, CNN's Aaron Brown states the time as "4:15 Eastern Daylight Time," announcing Building 7 has fallen-- more than one hour before its actual collapse.

Furthermore, both the BBC report with Jane Standley and the CNN report with Aaron Brown clearly show Building 7 still standing, 'billowing with smoke' as the collapse is reported-- so premature reporting is confirmed visually as well.

There is no longer any doubt they were all reading off the same script. Reports mirrored testimony of scores of fire fighters, police and emergency workers who were told to get back from the building in the 2 hours before Salomon Brothers building (better known as WTC 7) fell at free-fall speed.

Rescue workers were told the building was to be brought down in a controlled demolition.

The group that carried out the demolition of Building 7 was in a position to feed the media and local authorities an official story. We have the controlled demolition of Building 7 hidden in plain sight-- including an admission by the building's 99-year lease holder Larry Silverstein.

We are witnessing the unraveling of the 9/11 cover-up.

New video and audio clips of emergency workers who were told the Building 7 was to be purposefully brought down are coming out on an hour-by-hour basis as thousands of 9/11 researchers investigate publicly available archives.

Alex Jones in his car on the afternoon of 9/11 also heard ABC News report that the government was considering demolishing Building 7. Jones didn't’t realize what he was hearing for several weeks. Now the evidence is coming out.

CNN'S REPORT IN-FOCUS

AARON BROWN QUESTIONS SCRIPT ON-AIR, UNLIKE BBC

It is interesting to note that Aaron Brown seems to realize the incongruity of his reporting as he looks over his shoulder at Building 7-- still standing and emitting massive trails of smoke.

Just after announcing that WTC 7 "has collapsed or is collapsing," he lets onto his confusion, stating:

"And I—I—You, to be honest, can see these pictures more clearly than I, but building number 7, one of the buildings in this very large complex of buildings that is that is the trade center."

Clearly, Brown, slicker than the BBC reporter, caught the errors in the script during live coverage and revised his words, saying instead-- as he looked at the standing structure:

"And now we are told that there’s a fire there and that building may collapse as well as you can see."

BBC 24 REPORT IN-FOCUS

Time-Stamped BBC Broadcast Seals Media Foreknowledge of Building 7 Collapse and Use of Scripting

An alternate local BBC report-- which included a live time-stamp-- now positively establishes that BBC reported the collapse of WTC Building 7 at least 25-minutes prior to the actual collapse of the building.

The feed seen above (at top) reports at 21.54 London time that:

News is continuing to come in as you can imagine. We're now being told that another enormous building in New York has collapsed. It is the 47-story Salomon Brothers building [better known as WTC Building 7] which was situated very close to the World Trade Center, right there in this financial capitol.

21.54-- 5 hours earlier in New York-- is 4:54 p.m., well before the actual collapse at 5:20 p.m.

This live feed did not show WTC 7 standing during the announcement, as it was showing B-roll of rescue workers on the ground.

The words used are very similar to the BBC report with Jane Standley, who also reported the WTC 7 collapse prematurely-- with the building visible in the live frame beyond the window. The latter coverage also included an explanation by the co-anchor that the building was not attacked, but, rather, was "weakened"-- perfectly in line with the official story even before the collapse took place.

BBC'S ABSURD RESPONSE IN-FOCUS

BBC Claims 9/11 Tapes Lost; CNN Archivist Contradicts This, Citing Multiple Copies Recorded

BBC responded to news of the early report on Building 7's collapse, claiming, amongst other excuses, that their 9/11 tapes have been lost.

A CNN archivist in Atlanta, and Infowars reader, corrected this erroneous notion:

"I'm an archivist with the CNN News Library in Atlanta, and I can tell you with absolute certainty, the mere idea that news agencies such as ours would "misplace" any airchecks from 9/11 is preposterous. CNN has these tapes locked away from all the others. People like myself, who normally would have access to any tapes in our library, must ask special permission in order to view airchecks from that day. Multiple tapes would have been recording their broadcast that day, and there are also private agencies that record all broadcasts from all channels - constantly - in the event that a news agency missed something or needs something. They don't just have one copy... they have several. It's standard procedure, and as soon as the second plane hit, they would start recording several copies on other tapes machines all day long. 

The only information they need to give out is the source of the collapse claim. No one is saying the BBC is "part of the conspiracy," we're saying that someone gave that reporter the information ahead of time. The source of that information is the only thing they can reveal that would be meaningful."

WTC COMPLEX IN-FOCUS

WTC 3 Was Structurally Destroyed by Falling Debris, Yet Did Not Uniformly Collapse at Free-Fall Speed Like WTC 7

World Trade Center Building 3 -- known publicly as the 22-story Marriott Hotel positioned between the Twin Towers-- was heavily damaged during the collapse of WTC 2, yet it did not experience uniform collapse either vertically or horizontally-- but rather a crater of inconsistent breakage.

WTC Building 3 Was Heavily Damaged by the Collapse of Tower 2, Yet Did Not Collapse Uniformly.

Yet, Building 7, which was comparably far removed from the two buildings hit by airliners, suffered only minor fires and sudden, uniform collapse-- typically indicative of a controlled demolition.

Clearly, the difference in damage between the two steel buildings is baffling and untenable under the explanation offered by the government's official story.

BBC Responds to Building 7 Controversy; Claim 9/11 Tapes Lost

Pathetic five paragraph blog rebuttal does not answer questions as to source of report that Salomon Building was coming down, BBC claims tapes lost due to "cock-up" not conspiracy

The BBC has been forced to respond to footage showing their correspondent reporting the collapse of WTC 7 before it fell on 9/11, claiming tapes from the day are somehow missing, and refusing to identify the source for their bizarre act of "clairvoyance" in accurately preempting the fall of Building 7.

Here is the BBC's response to the questions about the footage that was unearthed yesterday, with my comments after each statement.

1. We're not part of a conspiracy. Nobody told us what to say or do on September 11th. We didn't get told in advance that buildings were going to fall down. We didn't receive press releases or scripts in advance of events happening.

"We didn't get told in advance that buildings were going to fall down." If this is true, then how on earth did the BBC report the collapse of Building 7 before it happened? Psychic clairvoyance? Of course they were told that WTC 7 was coming down, just like the firefighters, police, first responders andCNN were told it was coming down. They had to have had a source for making such a claim. The BBC is acting like the naughty little boy who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. No one here is claiming the BBC are "part of the conspiracy," but their hideous penchant to just repeat what authorities tell them without even a cursory investigation (and with the Building they are telling us has collapsed mockingly filling the background shot of the report), is a damning indictment of their yellow journalism when it comes to 9/11.

2. In the chaos and confusion of the day, I'm quite sure we said things which turned out to be untrue or inaccurate - but at the time were based on the best information we had. We did what we always did - sourced our reports, used qualifying words like "apparently" or "it's reported" or "we're hearing" and constantly tried to check and double check the information we were receiving.

How do "chaos and confusion" explain how the BBC reported on the collapse of a building, a collapse that happened "unexpectedly" according to their Conspiracy Files hit piece documentary, before it happened? In one breath the BBC is claiming they were not told of the impending collapse of the Building and in the next they are telling us that all their information is sourced. Which is it to be? Did the BBC have a source telling them the building was about to collapse or not? If not, how on earth could they pre-empt its fall? Do BBC reporters have access to a time machine? What was the source of this information?

3. Our reporter Jane Standley was in New York on the day of the attacks, and like everyone who was there, has the events seared on her mind. I've spoken to her today and unsurprisingly, she doesn't remember minute-by-minute what she said or did - like everybody else that day she was trying to make sense of what she was seeing; what she was being told; and what was being told to her by colleagues in London who were monitoring feeds and wires services.

Trying to make sense of what she was being told? She obviously didn't make much sense of the fact that the Building she was reporting had collapsed was prominently standing behind her! Unfortunately, for a news organization that prides itself on accuracy and credibility, "she doesn't remember" just doesn't cut it as an excuse.

4. We no longer have the original tapes of our 9/11 coverage (for reasons of cock-up, not conspiracy). So if someone has got a recording of our output, I'd love to get hold of it. We do have the tapes for our sister channel News 24, but they don't help clear up the issue one way or another.

We are asked to believe that the world's premiere news organization has somehow lost all its tapes of perhaps the biggest news event of the past 60 years. This is a copout. Whether they have lost the tapes or not, the BBC simply doesn't want to verify one hundred per cent their monumental foul-up, because they know it would only increase the exposure of this issue and lead to further questions. What is there to clear up? The reporter is standing in front of the building while saying it has already collapsed! This is a blatant effort to try and placate people making complaints while refusing to admit a monumental faux pas that further undermines the BBC's credibility in the aftermath of the Conspiracy Files debacle.

5. If we reported the building had collapsed before it had done so, it would have been an error - no more than that. As one of the comments on You Tube says today "so the guy in the studio didn't quite know what was going on? Woah, that totally proves conspiracy... "

So now the BBC are so devoid of answers, they have to enlist the help of some moronic comment on a You Tube blog? Instead of issuing official statements and seeking the advice of legal professionals they produce a cobbled together five paragraph blog and include the testimony of some moron on a You Tube comment board. Pathetic! Answer the question BBC - what was your source for reporting on multiple occasions that Building 7 had collapsed before it had collapsed, and identify the source that enabled the anchorman to comment that the building had collapsed due to it being weakened, an explanation still unanswered by NIST five and a half years later.

If you had reported the collapse of the twin towers before it happened would that have been just an error too? This "error" translated as $800 million plus in insurance bounty for Larry Silverstein - I'm sure Industrial Risk Insurers would be interested to know the source of your "error." In addition, two seperate sources reported that Secret Service Agent Craig Miller died as a result of the collapse of Building 7. Do you think he would have been interested in the "error" that led to your correspondent reporting the building's downfall in advance?
